etsy finds

navy blue and coral crochet anchor bracelet, gudbling
I'm dying over a number of Etsy goodies I've stumbled upon recently, and I just have to share. I feel like my entire Etsy favorites section brings a smile to my face right now. So much creativity exists in our little world, and I'm so thankful that there's an outlet like Etsy to express it all. So here you go - and you're welcome.

ben folds...and school music programs

The great Ben Folds
Recently, Monsieur Moulin and I attended the Ben Folds concert with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra at Bass Concert Hall. And as a former band nerd, I realized two things: 1) Ben Folds is an absolutely captivating and talented performer who has a way of making you like you've been friends for years. 2) I hope and pray that school music programs never go away.

Ben, while thanking the orchestra, touched on this issue, and it literally made me tear up. Some of the best years of my life were spent in that band (playing the clarinet, thank you very much), and it made me a better musician, student and person as a whole. Ben was clearly impacted by music programs, as were most of the people in that hall. And if generations to follow don't have that amazing experience, what will the future of music (and civilization) look like?

So support your music programs however you can, and encourage your children to play an instrument or sing in the choir. Trust me, you'll have to endure squeaks, "Hot Cross Buns" and pitchy notes for a while, but in the end, it'll be the best experience - for you and for them. (And who knows, maybe some scholarship money will come out of it...)
